Interim Glossary
Achievement Points
​
Awarded to students for demonstrating good and effective learning behaviour in lessons and around school.
​
Behaviour Points
​
These are sanctions put in place for when behaviour or learning is inappropriate or a student fails to meet expected standards.
​
Attendance
​
Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School expects extremely high attendance for all students. Low attendance figures have a detrimental effect on learning outcomes and attainment.
​
Target Grade
​
This represents the grade the student should be aiming for in the final examinations. The Target Grade is set using prior attainment data and contextual information about each student and their likely performance.
​
Current Performance and Progress Towards Target
​
The grade the student is currently working at based on class assessments, homework and tests.
Exceptional Progress on-track to achieve well above their target by the end of Year 13.
​
Excellent Progress on-track to achieve above their target by the end of Year 13.
​
Expected Progress on-track to hit their target by the end of Year 13.
​
Limited Progress at risk of not hitting their target by the end of Year 13.
​
Inadequate Progress at serious risk of not hitting their target by the end of Year 13.
BTEC and vocational subjects are given grades D*-P:

D* for Distinction Star;
​
D for Distinction;
​
M for Merit; and
​
P for Pass.
