Message from the Headteacher
Welcome to our Website. This is a key element in our drive to communicate and engage with all members of our learning community by taking full advantage of the available technologies. One of the most powerful features of the website is the way that it provides a platform to support home learning through personalised student and parent access.
At Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School and Sixth Form College high expectations, excellent teaching, an exciting learning environment, an emphasis on the core purpose of helping students to learn and achieve, combined with a strong, caring support system, ensure that students of all abilities achieve their potential.
Outstanding examination results at GCSE and Advanced Level are consistently amongst the highest within Cheshire and nationally. Teachers, students, support staff, parents and governors work together to nurture the firmly established ethos of challenge, care, consideration and co-operation, which support the schools mission of "preparing learners for a changing world".
There is a strong shared belief that children bring their own particular skills and talents and we aim to recognise, acknowledge and build on them. We place the highest priority on meeting the needs of individual
students in all fields of endeavour.
About Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School
Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School & Sixth Form College is a dynamic, innovative and ambitious Teaching School and Academy with a national reputation for excellence. We work closely with the National College for School Leadership and Teaching Agency in modelling, promoting and disseminating best and next practice.
During 2011 Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School & Sixth Form College became both an Academy and a Teaching School. The future challenges and prospects afforded to all, especially by our Teaching School Status and position in a far-reaching alliance, cannot be underestimated and is central to our strategic vision.
Academic standards are outstanding, with 80% of last year’s Year 11 gaining 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths at GCSE and a pass rate of 98% at Advanced Level.
OFSTED have launched what they describe as a school data dashboard which provides a snapshot of school performance dashboard.ofsted.gov.uk. The entry for HCCS shows that attainment and progress remain outstanding and it is our mission to make it even better.
Not surprisingly at our last inspection an OFSTED team judged us to be “Outstanding”. The inspection report can be accessed via our school website. Subsequently we have been included in the Chief Inspector of Schools list of outstanding providers several times. Subsequently at an interim inspection OFSTED confirmed that Leadership and Management remained Outstanding and that professional development opportunities at all levels are excellent. Student Leadership was also noted as a significant strength.
As an outstanding school we are not subject to routine inspections. However at each HMI “interim assessment” our academic performance, student progress and attendance have been judged as `Outstanding’.
We, like most successful schools, maintain that success by regularly revisiting our values, vision and guiding principles in order to ensure that they remain apposite and relevant in a world that is changing so rapidly.
