We have a vibrant department for our students to enjoy working in featuring large purpose built teaching rooms, a seperate room for A-Level lessons and a gallery space exhibiting student work.
Studying Art @ HCCS
In KS3 students complete a variety of projects inspired by the works of artists, cultures and periods in time. The projects enable students to explore using a range of practical techniques and materials including: drawing, designing, 3D construction, collage, painting and printing.
Year 7 projects: Indian pattern printmaking, Pop Art collage & design work inspired by Bugs
Year 8 projects: Native American mask making, William Morris mixed media & artist Jon Burgerman design work
Year 9 projects: Hundertwasser 3D construction, Geometric animal mixed media & Doodle 4 Google design work
GCSE Art: our endorsement is Art, Craft & Design from the AQA specification (see course outline page)
A-Level Art: our endorsement is Fine Art from the AQA specification (see course outline document)
A-Level Photography: our endorsement is Photography from the AQA specification for Art (see course outline page)
The Art Department runs extracurricular opportunities each week for our students. New participants are always welcome.
Tuesday 3.30-4.30: KS3 Art Club Art 1
Thursday 3.30-5: KS4/KS5 coursework session Art 1 & 2
lunchtimes: supervised time is usually available in Art 1 & 2
An annual weekend residential course at the Conway Centre, Anglesey is also offered to yr10 GCSE Art students
