Computer Science and Information Technology is forever changing and it is so important that we do our best to keep up with it! It is our aim that all students engage in both Computer Science and ICT to enhance their ability to adapt, work and enjoy this new and changing world we live in today. Our department is full of new and exciting tools from Raspberry Pi’s to lego mindstorm. Our teachers are also inspired and excited by the changes we all face in this technological era.
Key Stage Introduction
Key Stage 3 - this key stage covers Digital Literacy; the everyday use of applications, Computer Science; learning how things work and programming, Responsible Use; how to stay safe when using technology and the internet, making our world a safer and better place to live.
Key Stage 4 & 5 ICT - looks at how technology and computers fit into everyday business and the world. How we can use it to make business more profitable and more efficient as well as looking at its impacts.
Key Stage 4 & 5 Computer Science - this is a completely different subject to ICT were we develop the skill of coding and writing of programmes. Here we look at the inside of the computer and work out how it really works!
The ICT faculty vision:
Every Child should be given the opportunity to use ICT securely, creatively and independently. Every Child should develop the confidence to keep their skills up-to-date and are able to generalise from their ICT experiences and transfer those skills into everyday life.
Our lessons here at HCCS will enable students to understand the functionality of ICT and be able to place the importance of ICT in the working world.
