Mrs Christina Burgess
Chair of Governors & Community Governor
Many members of my family have benefitted from attending HCCS since it opened in 1978; younger ones who are currently in local primary schools will join the school in the near future. My own sons achieved qualifications which allowed them to study at Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities and they now have successful careers, one in Ophthalmic Surgery and the other in Medical Technology. Both boys enjoyed the strong sense of community in the school which encouraged them in musical and sporting activities as well as academic work.
After studying at Durham and Oxford Universities, I pursued a challenging and rewarding career in Education. For 20 years before I retired, I taught at a local Sixth Form College where I became Head of Science. In addition I am an active member of local musical groups and the team which organises Goostrey Rose Day. I still live in the school catchment area so I was delighted to be appointed a community governor in 2014. I am keen to use my knowledge and experience to support the school.
