Miss Helena Connolly
I have worked at Holmes Chapel since 2013, teaching French, German and Spanish to all key
stages. I am the Teaching and Learning coordinator for MFL, responsible for leading and embedding outstanding teaching across the Faculty, improving our collaborative approach to sharing resources and importantly leading our focus away from teaching from the textbook and towards using a range of engaging and culturally relevant materials.
Last summer, I was the trip lead for our MFL Spanish trip to Barcelona which was a fantastic opportunity for students to use their Spanish in a real-life context, students were a credit to themselves and HCCS and feedback from students and parents was excellent, I look forward to hopefully running the trip again in 2018.
I recently completed my Middle Leadership programme through the Chimney House Alliance, my project focussed on the redevelopment of our curriculum in MFL to reflect the assessment changes ahead of us and to ensure students are equipped with the grammar and vocabulary structures to communicate in a range of different contexts.
I am now looking for new opportunities to develop my career here at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.
I am delighted to become a staff governor this year. I have met a number of the HCCS Governors at school events and have always felt they are supportive of staff and knowledgeable of our aims at HCCS. I know I am joining a strong team and I hope, not only to learn a lot from them about how the school functions at all levels, but also to make my own contributions to what is such an important role for our school.
