We continue to monitor closely the guidance relating to the handling of the Coronavirus outbreak. This guidance changes daily as the situation unfolds. Over the past few days we have been looking at current plans for school trips and have taken the most appropriate actions.
Looking at the escalating situation across the UK and beyond, we now feel it necessary to protect the school community by stopping all out of school activities. This will affect local as well as national events. All sport fixtures for example, will be cancelled. The effect of this decision will be to stop students travelling out of school but will also stop students and staff from other schools travelling here.
There will be no exceptions to this decision.
We understand that this will be unpopular, but keeping our school community safe is our priority and we believe that this action is proportionate at this stage.
Hand cleaning update
We continue to promote good hand hygiene and the Catch it, Bin it, Kill it strategy for dealing with coughing and sneezing. We have installed 10 hand hygiene stations throughout the school as previously reported. From today, ALL classrooms will have been supplied with sanitising hand gel and tissue so there will be no reasons for non compliance. We hope that increasing availability in this way will be of help.
