Learning at home
Staff and students are in school today following a normal timetable. Whilst we are awaiting further information from the Department of Education about the details of yesterday’s announcements, our staff have been accelerating plans to move all learning to the digital platforms. Our ambition is to ensure that we continue to provide a quality teaching and learning environment for all of our students.
All students in our school access google-classroom for IT lessons, so we know that every student has used the system at some point, but not necessarily in every subject. This morning in tutor groups, teachers have been working with students to ensure that they are now set up to access all necessary lessons across core subjects. This will continue to be worked on over the next 48 hours. Part of our planning has been around the need to get students and staff ready to work effectively from home.
In the meantime, we need the help of parents, guardians or appropriate family members to help us to get students ‘google ready’ at home. Here is a link to a short but really helpful information presentation for parents which we hope you will take a look at.

If any parent feels their child or children will not be able to access the platforms at home, please contact itsupport@hccs.info and we will do our best to help or advise.
