Period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II

We said that we would keep parents, students and staff informed as further guidance was released in relation to the death of Queen Elzabeth II. Over the past few days the details have been emerging about the period of mourning leading upto the Queen’s funeral on Monday 19th September 2022.

This day will be an additional public holiday and therefore, school will be closed on Monday 19th September 2022. On all other days throughout this period, school will be open and working as normal. During this week we will be using our assemblies to explore with students the impact the Queen had on British values and how they are reflected in our school.

There are a number of ways that members of our local community are able to leave messages of condolence, with books available to sign in the Parish Council Office (1 Church Walk), the Holmes Chapel Library and in St Lukes Church.

Cheshire East Council have also set up an online book of condolence that can be accessed here: Her Majesty The Queen Book of Condolences

We recognise that some students or staff may well feel that very sad events like this have an impact on their thoughts and feelings. We have in place a system of pastoral care and will support any students or staff who feel the need for additional help. On our website we have a signpost to a number of organisations that offer support at times of difficulty. They can be accessed here: Support is always available.

School will close at 3:15pm on Friday 16th September and reopen as normal at 8:40am Tuesday 20th September 2022.
