Teacher's strike JULY 2023

The NEU have announced two more days of strike action as part of their on-going dispute with the government over teachers' pay and funding. The latest rounds of strike action will take place on

  1. Wednesday 5th July 2023

  2. Friday 7th July 2023

We continue to implement a risk based approach to managing our school’s response to all of the current and future strikes. The safety of our school community remains our priority as we continue to evaluate the situation ahead of each phase of strike action. Based on our understanding of the impact of previous strike days on staffing levels and an analysis of our timetable for each of the strike days, the following arrangements have been made:

Wednesday 5th July 2023

  • All Year 9 students will be expected to come to school as normal.

  • All other students, in years 7,8, 10 and including all of those in the Sixth Form College will be required to remain at home on this day.

Friday 7th July 2023

  • All Year 7 and Year 12 students will be expected to come to school and college as normal.

  • All other students in years 8, 9,10 will be required to remain at home on this day.

Note that following the end of their exams Years 11 and 13 are already not in school at this time.

For students who are at home on these two strike days, lessons will be set online via the Google Classroom assuming their teachers are not part of the strike action.

We understand completely how difficult it can be for families to make alternative arrangements and the impact on learning when schools are closed. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. This is however a national dispute between the government and the teaching unions, not about any issues at our school.
