Two day Teachers strike 15th 16th March 2023

Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School & Sixth Form College plans in place for the two day NEU Teachers’ strike on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023

For both days, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March:

Sixth Form College

  • will be open as normal on both days for Year groups 12 and 13

Year groups 7,8,9 and 10

  • School will be closed for two days to all students in Year groups 7,8,9 and 10. Students in these year groups will access their learning online on both days.

For Year 11 students ONLY

On Wednesday 15th March

  • Year 11 students will be required to stay at home and engage in self supported learning using Google Classroom. Although there will be some live lessons, the expectation is that more of the learning will be self supported using google classroom

  • Some specific groups of Year 11 students who need additional support and input to cover key areas of the curriculum, particularly in BTEC courses, will be asked by Curriculum Leaders to come into school for specific lessons.

On Thursday 16th March

  • All Year 11 students should attend school as normal.

  • Mock examination results will be issued in Period 5

The safety of our school community is of paramount importance. With high levels of teacher absence, there is a point where the safety of students and staff in school is compromised beyond an acceptable level. We intend to continue to implement a risk based approach to managing our school’s response to all of the current and future strikes. With this in mind we have again modified our plan in relation to this two day strike. School will reopen as normal to all year groups on Friday 17th March 2023.

We understand completely how difficult it can be for families to make alternative arrangements and the impact on learning when schools are closed. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. This is however a national dispute between the government and the teaching unions, not about any issues at our school.

We will of course continue to update you on our plans as the dispute progresses.
